Max Air, a Nigerian airline, has refunded a N55,000 airfare to Edi Theophilus Mawo, a customer who waited four months for it, on Monday.

FIJ had earlier reported how the airline had failed to refund Mawo’s airfare after two consecutive flight cancellations.

Mawo, a staff member of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), told FIJ that he received a bank alert showing the company had refunded the money to him.

“This is the evidence of the refund of N55,000 from Max Air to me,” the delighted SON employee told FIJ on Monday.

“I sincerely appreciate your support in retrieving the money. Thank you very much. God will reward you all.”

On April 24, 2023, Mawo booked a flight scheduled to depart from Sokoto to Abuja on May 8, 2023.

The airline, headquartered in Kano State, cancelled the flight before the departure day, citing operational reasons.

Mawo proceeded to reschedule the flight to May 9. Again, he was disappointed as the company informed him via a text on May 8 that the flight had been cancelled for the same reason cited earlier.

He submitted all the details the company required him to provide in order to process the payment, but there was no positive result in the space of four about months.
