Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has accused state security agencies of giving Kevin Taylor favourable treatment while pursuing others over offensive and allegedly false online content.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile hosted by Samson Lardy Anyenini, Ntim Fordjour said the treatment he believes Taylor received after entering Ghana contrasts sharply with the arrest of Salomey Awiti Bafoh, who has been linked to the Ghana Jollof account.
His comments were part of a broader criticism of what he described as unequal enforcement of the law.
“We know how Kevin Taylor got into this country, the state security that afforded him VIP treatment, where they took him, state property, where they took him to give him VIP, hospitable reception, how they choreographed for him to be freed,” he said.
Ntim Fordjour claimed that shortly after Taylor was released, he went on his podcast and suggested that he had the freedom to insult, attack and publish false material without consequences.
He questioned why people associated with the governing side of the political divide, in his view, were not facing the same scrutiny.
“Are we saying that Kevin Taylor and his likes should still continue to enjoy immunity of our laws and yet other people should be attacked and targeted?” he asked.
The MP said the issue should not be about protecting one political camp but about applying the law consistently.
He argued that if offensive or false publications are considered unlawful, the same standard should apply regardless of who produces them.
His comments revolves around Salomey Awiti Bafoh, who has been accused of involvement with Ghana Jollof and pleaded not guilty to a charge relating to the publication and circulation of false news.
