The political atmosphere in Osun State has grown increasingly tense as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship Candidate, Benjamin Adereti, launched a scathing assessment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration. Describing the current government as a “colossal failure,” Adereti warned that the state is currently on “life support” due to widespread neglect across critical socio-economic sectors.
Speaking on the state of the state, Adereti asserted that the Adeleke-led administration has failed to deliver on its promises to the people of Osun. He pointed to major deficits in key areas including education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and agriculture. According to the APC chieftain, the governor’s tenure has been characterized by policy missteps, lack of foresight, and an inability to address the pressing needs of the populace. He argued that instead of building on the progress made by previous administrations, the current leadership has allowed critical institutions to decay.
In the education sector, Adereti lamented the deteriorating state of public schools, pointing out that teachers and students are operating under highly unfavorable conditions. Similarly, he raised the alarm over the healthcare sector, which he described as severely underfunded and lacking basic medical supplies. “Our hospitals have become mere consulting clinics,” Adereti stated, emphasizing the urgent need for systemic reforms.
Infrastructure and agriculture—historically the backbones of Osun State’s economy—have also reportedly suffered under the current administration. Adereti argued that many road projects have been abandoned or poorly executed, stalling economic activities and making transit hazardous for residents. Furthermore, he criticized the lack of support for local farmers, noting that food insecurity has risen due to the government’s failure to subsidize agricultural inputs or provide modern farming incentives. “Osun is historically an agrarian state, but today, farmers are left to fend for themselves without any meaningful government intervention,” he remarked.
The APC candidate urged the citizens of Osun State to reflect deeply on the current state of governance and support a change in leadership. He assured that the APC remains committed to rescuing the state from its current decline and restoring sustainable growth. As political campaigns gain momentum, these sharp criticisms underscore the high stakes in the upcoming electoral contest, with governance quality remaining at the forefront of voters’ minds.
