In a major boost to public health in Rivers State, approximately nine million residents are set to benefit from a massive distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs). The Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, announced the campaign during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Against Malaria Foundation (AMF). Dr. Wachukwu emphasized that the collaboration with AMF represents a strategic milestone in the state’s fight against malaria, which remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality, particularly among young children and pregnant women.

Strengthening the Fight Against Malaria

Malaria continues to pose a significant threat to public health across Nigeria. The distribution of these insecticide-treated nets is recognized globally as one of the most cost-effective and efficient interventions to prevent malaria transmission.
