Edo State Govt Assesses Readiness for Paperless Governance
… HOS Commends Edo Cloud Deployment Team
The Edo State Government has intensified preparations towards the full implementation of paperless governance through its newly developed state-owned electronic governance platform, Edo Cloud.
The Head of Service (HOS), Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, disclosed the information during a weekly review and workshop session, which held recently with members of the various Edo Cloud deployment teams in attendance.
Dr. Okungbowa expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded during the second phase of the deployment exercise, noting that the State has continued to make significant strides towards achieving a fully digital public service system.
The HOS commended the Monitoring and Evaluation Team for its commitment and detailed assessment of the implementation process. HE applauded the clearly defined succeeding steps and measurable indicators used in evaluating the State’s readiness. He emphasised the importance of objective, data-driven assessments in determining the preparedness of ministries, departments, and agencies for the transition to paperless operations.
Dr. Okungbowa highlighted the successful training of staff, describing their reception of the initiative and willingness to adapt to the new system as encouraging signs for the future of digital governance in the State.
The Managing Director of the Edo State Information Communication and Technology Agency (ICTA), Mr. Eghosa Urhoghide, who led the Monitoring and Evaluation Team, presented an overview of the State’s readiness based on findings from the pilot deployment phase across selected MDAs. The assessment covered key areas including staff onboarding, network infrastructure, power supply, hardware availability, training, and capacity building.
Mr. Urhoghide noted that data gathered from the pilot phase revealed substantial progress and demonstrated the competence and commitment of Edo State public servants during both the initial and ongoing phases of deployment. He concluded that the Edo Cloud represents a major milestone in the State’s digital transformation journey, adding that current indicators show Edo State is steadily progressing towards achieving full paperless governance statewide.
