A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Usman Adamu, has pledged to unite the state, bridge generational divides, and drive rapid development if elected governor in 2027.

Adamu made the pledge shortly after submitting his nomination forms at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, describing the exercise as the beginning of a journey aimed at repositioning Bauchi State for progress and prosperity.

Speaking to party supporters and journalists, the aspirant said his ambition was driven by a vision to consolidate the state politically, socially, and economically.

“This mission is the beginning of this journey. The submission of this form is the gateway for success,” he said.

According to him, his candidacy represents a bridge across different divides in the state, particularly between generations and political blocs.

“I am not too old and neither too young to lead. I will be the bridge that consolidates Bauchi in three folds,” he stated.

He identified what he described as the “Bauchi-Katagum dichotomy” as one of the divisions requiring attention, insisting that he belonged to all parts of the state.

“I don’t belong to Bauchi alone and I don’t belong to Katagum alone. I will stand in the middle for the interest of the entire state. Bauchi is our collective target,” he added.

Adamu also promised to unite women, youths, and elders in governance, saying inclusive leadership would remain central to his administration.

“We need consolidation and I will be the bridge between the women, the youths, and the elders. That is guaranteed,” he declared.

The aspirant said he had developed a development blueprint over the past 20 years, which he claimed had existed in Bauchi but was never fully implemented.

“We have development ideas that we will adopt. I have a blueprint that I have developed over the past 20 years. It has existed in Bauchi, only that it has not been fully utilised,” he said.

With support from youths and elders, Adamu expressed confidence that Bauchi could witness massive transformation comparable to global cities.

“I hope Bauchi will be like Dubai. We have a vision and by God’s grace it shall be actualised,” he said.

Responding to questions about the political influence of incumbent Governor Bala Mohammed, who recently moved to another political party and is expected to support a successor, Adamu said power ultimately belongs to God and the people of Bauchi.

“Bauchi people are very wise and they can choose what they want for themselves,” he said.

He argued that political history in the state had shown that incumbency does not always determine electoral outcomes.

“Even a former governor defeated an incumbent governor in Bauchi before. So defeating a candidate imposed by any governor will not be a problem,” he stated.

Adamu further maintained that the PDP remained the dominant political force in Bauchi State despite reports of internal divisions at the national level.

“As far as I am concerned, there is only one strong party in Bauchi and that is the PDP. Most people in Bauchi are PDP members and you cannot change them from that position,” he said.

He dismissed reports of crisis within the party, insisting that the PDP leadership recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission remained valid.

“After the primaries, we will be more united and we will pose a great challenge to the Bauchi State government,” he added.
