Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have rescued two kidnapped victims in a decisive early-morning offensive in Benue State, reinforcing intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the region.

The operation, executed in the early hours of Wednesday, April 15, 2026, focused on suspected bandits’ enclaves in Kyado, Ukum Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, troops launched coordinated patrols and sustained pressure on the criminals, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee the scene.

The rescued victims, Mr. Sylvester Micheal Ebuka and Mrs. Chidinma Chikwentu, were abducted in separate incidents earlier in the month. Mr. Ebuka was kidnapped on April 2, while Mrs. Chikwentu was taken on April 6. Both victims were recovered unharmed and are reported to be in stable condition.

Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, credited the success of the mission to actionable intelligence and relentless operational pressure on criminal elements.

Force Commander, Major General Moses Gara, praised the troops for their professionalism and courage, describing the operation as a clear demonstration of the military’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and restoring security.

He assured residents of Benue State that sustained operations would continue until all threats are neutralised, while urging the public to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.
