The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the successful completion of the 1447AH Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur A. Muhammad-Baba, the forum described Ramadan as a period of fervent worship, sacrifice, and reflection.

ACF noted that this year’s fasting was observed amid what it called worsening economic conditions and existential challenges facing Nigerians.

The forum said widespread hardship and multidimensional poverty continue to define the lives of a majority of citizens, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

It lamented that the region still grapples with insecurity across its three geo-political zones, warning that the situation appears to be deteriorating.

According to ACF, the Northcentral states of Benue, Niger, Plateau, Kogi and Kwara remain under persistent attacks by armed non-state actors.

It added that the Northwest continues to battle banditry, while the Northeast faces renewed threats from extremist groups seeking to destabilise the region.

The forum also expressed concern over recent attacks on military formations in parts of Borno and Plateau states, describing them as signs of a worsening security climate.

Beyond insecurity, ACF raised alarm over alleged extra-judicial arrests and prolonged detentions, warning that such actions undermine democratic principles.

It cautioned political authorities against focusing on early campaigns for the 2027 elections at the expense of governance and citizens’ welfare.

The forum warned that continued deterioration in living conditions could trigger public discontent and unrest if not urgently addressed.

Despite the challenges, ACF urged Nigerians to remain patient, steadfast in prayers, and supportive of security agencies in the fight against criminality.

In a separate goodwill message, former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan and the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Makarfi expressed gratitude to Allah for granting the faithful the opportunity to observe the fast, praying that all acts of worship and sacrifices would be accepted.

He urged Nigerians not to lose the lessons of Ramadan, emphasising compassion, charity, and unity, while calling for sustained prayers and collective efforts toward peace, stability, and national development.
