Voting commenced at 9:30 AM on Saturday in the Garki Local Government Area, to fill the seat of the late member of the House of Representatives representing the Garki/Babura federal constituency in Jigawa state.
Accreditation began at exactly 8:30 AM with voters trooping out to exercise their franchise.
Registered voters in 13 states across Nigeria are voting in polls to elect new representatives in the Senate, House of Representatives, and state houses of assembly.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the by-elections are in 16 constituencies.

The affected states are Jigawa, Edo, Ogun, Oyo, Adamawa, Anambra, Kaduna, Kano, Taraba, Kogi, Niger, Enugu, and Zamfara.
