The recent press release by the “Renewed Media Agenda” in response to the “Loyal APC Members of JKF” statement on former Governor Ayo Fayose’s derogatory comments against former Governor Kayode Fayemi is another shameless attempt to deflect attention from the real issues. The release, no doubt, is watery, dripping, soggy, and lacks in substance and credibility.
The authors of the release, led by Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun is also misconstructing the rebuttal to rubbish the sensibilities of Ekiti people, particularly those who know the truth about Dr. Fayemi’s contributions to the state’s progress. It’s laughable that Olatunbosun, who has personally disparaged Dr. Fayemi is now trying to defend the indefensible.
We recall that Olatunbosun and Dapo Karounwi, the Commissioner for Physical Planning, boasted at a recent meeting in his office that everything would be done to frustrate Dr. Fayemi out of APC, which they claim is already on its way to the ADC. They even perfected plans to disgrace Dr. Fayemi if he attempted to attend the endorsement rally in Ado Ekiti. What a nonsense!
Let’s remind these individuals that Dr. Kayode Fayemi and APC, whom BAO and his men are frustrating up and down, and giving better opportunities to Fayose and his group of PDP, fought tooth and nails to bring back APC to power in 2018 after mercilessly defeating the PDP candidate and godson of Ayodele Fayose, Prof Olusola Eleka. If Dr. Fayemi had not come back as Governor in 2018, would it have been possible for BAO to become governor in 2022? This is a question Olatunbosun, Karounwi, and those annihilating Dr. Fayemi should provide an answer.
Fayose’s gibberish on the podium, dishing out insults thinking he’s mocking Fayemi, is actually a mockery of himself and those who sent him. The records also show that Fayemi and his team of APC led a strong squad that again defeated the candidate of Fayose, Bisi Kolawole, in the 2022 governorship elections.
We understand so well that Taiwo Olatunbosun and Dapo Karounwi are one of the old allies of Fayose, and they can not use BAO’s tenure to destroy the bold and courageous political legacy of Dr. Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti and beyond. Ekiti people voted for BAO, not Fayose and his boys, who are today living large with Ekiti’s hard-earned money.
We urge the APC leadership to take a closer look at the activities of Fayose and his cohorts, who are using state resources and the the commonwealth of all Ekiti people for their selfish political interests. Fayemi’s legacy stands tall in Ekiti.
