Three outstanding students were awarded scholarships by the by Prince Iyahen, the proprietor of Iyahen International Academy at the just concluded school’s Inter House Sports over the weekend.
The students- Eldad Aboghene Imade, who emerged the most outstanding student with five gold medals, Kinston Ehidiamen, the second most outstanding with two gold medals and a bronze as well as Life Iyahen, a gold medalist- were rewarded for there outstanding performances at the event held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Overall, Green House took first position followed by Yellow House while Red House came third at the thrilling sports competition.
In his address, the school proprietor, Prince Iyahen said the event was to celebrate teamwork, sportsmanship, and friendly competition among the students, adding “It’s a day to showcase our school spirit, cheer on our friends, and make unforgettable memories.”
While admonishing the students, Prince Iyahen reminded the students that sports are not just about winning, but about learning valuable life skills like discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.
“Through sports, we learn important values like hard work, dedication, and resilience. We discover how to work together towards a common goal, how to support each other through challenges, and how to graciously accept both victory and defeat. He thanked the teachers and parents for their unwavering support and encouragement.
Quoting from Nelson Mandela, Iyahen said, ‘Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.’
