On Monday morning, fire broke out at the Supreme Court building in Abuja.

FIJ learnt from a source, who asked not be named, that the fire started in the chambers of Ibrahim Saulawa, a Supreme Court justice.

“I am not sure but I have a strong feeling that the fire was caused by an electrical fault,” the source told FIJ.

The source also confirmed that Saulawa’s chambers got completely burnt as a result of the incident.

“Men of the fire service arrived the scene to extinguish the fire and succeeded, but Saulawa’s chambers was already badly damaged,” the source said.

“People were arriving the court this morning for work when they saw the ball of flames.”

No casualties were recorded as of press time, but there has been no official word on the incident from the fire service.
