Master Ololade Adesina, who achieved a remarkable nine A1s in the 2023 West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), garnered a total of 15 prestigious awards during the 15th graduation ceremony of Rehoboth College, Ilorin, held on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) highlights that Adesina’s achievements included being recognized as the best student in Data Processing, Civic Education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics, among other subjects.
He also secured several special awards, such as the Barr. Adimula’s Award for Excellence in Mathematics and English Language, the Ifeoluwa Tomiwa Makinde Award for Overall Best Student, Mr. Alaofin’s Award for Excellence in Chemistry, Mr. and Mrs. Makinwa’s Award for Excellence in Economics, and the Mr. Àjàyí’s Award for the Best Graduating Student of Rehoboth College.
During his valedictory speech, Adesina expressed deep gratitude to the dedicated teaching staff for their unwavering commitment to the academic success of all students. He underscored that his exceptional performance in the WASSCE exams, marked by his nine A1 grades, was made possible due to the relentless efforts of the entire teaching team.
The outgoing Head Boy of the college emphasized that the institution’s strict policy against examination malpractice, both internally and externally, was instrumental in fostering a culture of hard work and diligence that propelled his success.
The distinguished event, attended by numerous dignitaries, also marked the celebration of Rehoboth College’s 20th anniversary.
In acknowledging the successful conclusion of the academic year, Mr. Sam Popoola, the school’s Proprietor, expressed gratitude to God. He noted that the school’s continuous strides have positioned it as the preferred educational institution in Kwara State. Mr. Popoola highlighted the outstanding performance of both Junior and Senior students in external exams, including WASSCE, NECO, and JAMB. He proudly noted that Adesina achieved nine A1s across all subjects.
Prof. Alfred Adegoke, a prominent Professor of Education and Chairman of the Board of Governors at Rehoboth Schools, praised the school’s substantial growth. In his goodwill message, he echoed the sentiment that the school’s accomplishments are truly commendable. Adegoke lauded the relentless efforts of the teaching staff and management, affirming that the school’s recent academic successes further cement its path to greatness.
He encouraged the teaching staff to continue setting new benchmarks, recalling that a former student of Rehoboth College, Dada Omotayo, emerged as the overall Best Graduating Student at the Nigeria Law School in 2022.
