Abuja witnessed a splendid union on Saturday as Lloyd Ekweremadu,Esq the son of the esteemed former Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu, exchanged vows with his beloved Tiffany.
The celebration took place at the exquisite Basilica of Grace Anglican Church.
Distinguished attendees included prominent figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), underscoring the significance of the event. Among these notable figures were three former Senate Presidents – Anyim Pius Anyim, David Mark, and Bukola Saraki – alongside the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate for Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, among others. These esteemed personalities stood in representation of the Ekweremadu family, including Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice.
Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, Jr., the groom, holds a significant role as one of the 20 commissioners recently sworn in by His Excellency, Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State. He has taken on the vital responsibility of serving as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, highlighting his dedication to contributing to the betterment of his community.
It’s pertinent to note that Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who dedicated close to two decades to serving the Enugu West senatorial district in the Senate, currently finds himself in a UK prison, along with his wife Beatrice. This predicament arose following their conviction for their involvement in organ trafficking, which led to their sentencing to separate terms of incarceration in May 2023.
The legal proceedings resulted in a UK Court imposing a sentence of nine years and eight months upon the former Deputy Senate President and esteemed PDP figure. Beatrice received a four-year and six-month prison term, while a doctor implicated in the case, Obinna Obeta, received a 10-year prison sentence.
The wedding itself was a remarkable affair, marked by love, joy, and unity, set against the backdrop of the Basilica of Grace Anglican Church in the Gudu District of Abuja. The event served as a reminder of the resilience and strength of family bonds, even in the face of challenging circumstances.
