A resident of the area, who spoke to our source said the crisis started after a team police operatives raided the area in the morning.
Recall that on Thursday, November 12, 2020, some gunmen attacked a bullion van in Ajah and made away with millions of naira.
According to Guardian, the attack which lasted for several minutes as the robbers rained bullets on the bullion van to unlock the van before carting away the money.
However, contrary to the claim on social media, the Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Adejobi Olumuyiwa said that there was no crisis in Ajah.
Olumuyiwa disclosed this on Twitter, saying the police only moved to the area to raid some identified black spots.
He tweeted, “No crisis in Ajah as speculated on the social media. The police moved into Ajah area today to raid some identified black spots. Some suspects have been arrested with incriminating and stolen items. Residents are urged to be calm”.
But a comment under the tweet suggested that following the disappearance of police from the streets of Lagos due to the crisis that trailed the #EndSARS protest in the state, hoodlums have lately been terrorising the area.
