Well, it all depends on what angle you’re looking at it. I won’t call the poster “poor”, rather I’d say he is ignorant.
I’ve always loved good hair…expensive hair. As a university student in the 90s, I wore a weave worth N6k. It was called the “Diana Ross hair.” At that time, the regular price for Amigos and Anna weave-ons popularly worn by students was N500. I have a Dad who loved to spoil me, so…
In 2010, I bought a 22″ Brazilian hair for N85k. The hair is still as good as new even today. In fact, my daughter who is now in the university has inherited it and made it into a wig.
I’ve also bought and worn cheap weave-ons and wigs; those ones that go for 10k to 15k. They got ruined in months. If I add up the amount I’ve spent on cheap hair that got ruined, it’s enough to buy me 5 good quality hair that my grand daughters would come to inherit.
So it’s a penny-wise-pound-foolish mentality for people who do not realise they are actually saving tons of cash by making a one-time purchase of good hair. It’s like having 1 solid gold necklace instead of 150 worthless costume gold pieces.
You can see me buying “Okrika” clothes to wear, no shame in that. I’m a great bargain hunter and I’m proud of it, but I never scrimp on my hair. I’d rather rock my natural afro or do my hair up in braids than wear cheap hair that looks like grass on my head.
It’s my take. Yours might be different.
