Patrick Yaw Boamah has ruled out crossing from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying his political roots are firmly tied to the traditions that formed the NPP.
The Okaikwei Central MP made the remarks during a question-and-answer session with party members on social media after he was asked whether he would one day cross carpets to the NDC.
He rejected the suggestion and described himself as deeply rooted in the political traditions that preceded the NPP.
“Oh, no, no, no,” he said. Boamah said his commitment to the party was not dependent on its current political position, noting that parties can lose power and return to government.
“You see, in politics, you can win today and lose tomorrow. It’s happened to the NDC before,” he said.
“So the fact that we are in a position that doesn’t mean we cannot win and come back.”
He said he remained confident about the NPP’s return to government and linked that expectation to what he described as the party’s potential contribution to national progress.
“We are definitely going to win to come back. And that is where I believe the country can see a lot more in terms of progress,” he said.
Boamah ended the response by making it clear that he had no intention of leaving the party.
“So please, there’s nothing like going anywhere. I’m staying home,” he said.
